June 2019 Calendar – June is the sixth month of the Gregorian calendar and derived from the Latin name Junius. Along with May, the poet Ovid gave June the meaning of ‘iuniores’ or ‘the youth’.

Cancer is the Zodiac sign for individuals that were born during this month. The animal symbol for cancer is a Crab. Ruled under the planet Moon and their birthstones are pearl and alexandrite. Pearl is widely known as an elegant type  of jewelry while alexandrite is a rare gemstone that changes its color when exposed to sunlight.

In addition, June marks the month for our fathers. A historical event occurred in 1909 when a girl named Sonora Smart Dodd wanted to pay gratitude to her hardworking father, William Smart, by raising his 6 children alone after the death of his wife. 60 years later it was officially announced as a national holiday by former President Richard Nixon. Father’s day is dedicated to all the fathers, grandfathers and father figures alike. Same as with Mother’s Day, our fathers and grandfathers will surely appreciate a day of much affection and gifts given by their children and friends.

Another interesting fact regarding this month is that it is tagged as the ‘Wedding month’. Going back to the study of mythology, the ancient Romans believed that June is the perfect time to tie the knot. This also marks the unison of the Roman goddess Juno and Jupiter, one of the supreme deities. Traditions and customs have been following mythology until now. Observed by different countries, couples are more likely to want to save the date any day in June in the belief of good luck and abundance in their marriage. With the importance of marriage in every couple, the bride might want this special day to happen in a traditional setting, understanding its depth and significance with her husband.
