April 2019 Calendar – Originated from different etymology, symbolizing the blossoming of the flowers; April is the fourth month in the Gregorian calendar. The name derived from the Latin term ‘Aprilis’ which was tagged by the Romans. It originates from the verb ‘aperire’ which means ‘to open’.
Associated with the Zodiac Sign Aries (March 20 – April 20) in astrology, symbolized by a ram. People that were born under this zodiac are called Arians. They are ruled by planet Mars and their birthstone is the diamond.
For those who have the passion to play pranks and disseminate hoaxes, April has a special day to fulfill those needs. Known as ‘April Fools Day’; April 1 marks the day when people play jokes and pranks on one another. It is not an official national day, but it is well observed in some of the countries, mostly in European countries as well as the United States. Playing harmless pranks began sometime during the 1300’s.
Another significant date in this month is April 7th. Dubbed as the ‘World Health Day’, it marks the World Health Organization’s (WHO) beginning to spread the word and educate people regarding global health issues. This day is recognized by several government offices and local organizations worldwide. WHO aims to provide sufficient information regarding outbreaks, help countries with discoveries of possible cures for a disease, and provide medical assistance to the ill-gotten countries when it comes to medical facilities and concern.
Lastly, ‘World Earth Day’ is celebrated annually on April 22 to show support for environmental concern. This event is known worldwide and started in the 1970’s. Events regarding environmental issues are held in different forms in different parts of the world.
